Youth Small Grants
At Small Grants, youth receive funding to plan and implement their own Community Action Project. The program consists of 15 weekly sessions including:
- In-group planning meetings
- In-group workshops
- 1 optional celebration of achievement
+ Individual check-ins with a social worker as needed.
Youth spend time sharing dialogue and knowledge, building transferable skills as a collective, and learning about themselves and their roles in community. Some examples of topics covered are: Community and Identity, Community Care, Project Planning, Budgeting, and Networking.
2024 Youth Small Grants Cohort 4
Youth Small Grants is a micro-grant program where BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, newcomer and low-income youth can receive a grant to create and implement a community action project!
In-person sessions will be held at Drive Youth Employment Services, Commercial Drive, Vancouver, on Tuesdays from 5pm-7pm, starting from Nov. 12th to Feb. 25th.
During sessions, youth will be able to do the following:
- Receive up to $3000 in grants for their community action project
- Learn skills like writing a proposal, budgeting, and networking
- Connect with Guest Speakers who will share their knowledge and experience in community work
- Receive support from both Clarissa, YSG’S Social Worker, and Christina, YSG’s Youth Programmer, at each step of the way during the program
