TAPS - Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors
The TAPS program aims to enhance the physical and mental well-being of older adults by offering therapeutic physical and recreational activities and nutritious lunches in a trusted social setting.
What's in it for you?
- A comfortable setting to connect socially indoors or outdoors (weather permitting)
- Physical activities: taichi, light exercises, etc.
- Recreational activities: bingo, reading cafe, etc.
- Brain activities: card games, mahjong, guest speakers, etc.
- Free nutritious lunch
- Coordination of transportation services
- One-time Membership: $5
When & Where?
We offer TAPS programs 4 days/week in collaboration with Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, available at both Frog Hollow and Kiwassa locations. See schedule below:
Frog Hollow: Wednesdays 10:00am - 1:30pm
Kiwassa: Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays. Program times vary. Contact Cherrie at Kiwassa for details (604-306-2088)
Eligibility
The TAPS program is perfect for older adults who:
- Experience minor health issues (e.g., memory, mobility, vision, etc.)
- See the value of making new friends and having community connections
- Are neighbours of Northeast Vancouver
- Are able to participate independently in activities
