School Age Care Educator
About the position
The School Age Care Educator is responsible for the provision of a school age care program that fosters a positive, and emergent learning environment with a focus on the social and emotional well being of all children. We are an inclusive, multicultural, dynamic and collaborative child care setting which includes working with other educators to plan and implement a progressive and innovative program inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, BC Early Learning Framework in concert with the values of FHNH. Other responsibilities include developing strong and collaborative relationships and communication with children, families and colleagues.
We are a Learning Centre (www.reggiolearning.ca) with amazing opportunities for professional development and for collaborative efforts with other educators and with the community as a whole.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Completion of a 20 hour course (or willingness to attend training), or a combination of courses in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition
• Ability to provide programming based on the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach and BC’s ELF
• Strength in building and maintaining supportive and collaborative partnerships with children of all abilities families, and colleagues
• Creativity, initiative, flexibility, compassion, sense of joy, and enthusiasm
• Passion for ongoing professional development and growth
• Experience working with children who require extra support is an asset
• First Aid Certificate
Hours: This is a regular part time position at 18.50 to 19.75 hours/week, Monday to Friday 2:15/2:30 to 6:00 plus weekly meeting. During winter, spring and summer breaks and school professional development days, shift times will vary.
Salary & Benefits: Competitive benefits package including group medical and Municipal Pension Plan, 3 weeks vacation, sick time, and exceptional professional development opportunities.
Hourly Salary: $20.29-21.36. This position qualifies for the additional $6.00 WE for any candidate with ECE.
Start Date: January 20th, 2025 or until position is filled.
