Are you a newcomer woman interested in pursuing a career in child care? WOW is the program for you!

Working Opportunities for Women (WOW) is an Employment Readiness Program that provides newcomer women with training to pursue a career in child care.

Who is eligible?

Newcomer women who are either a: Permanent Resident, Convention Refugee, Protected Person, Naturalized Canadian Citizen or Work Permit holder, CLB 5 and above or equivalent

Program participants also receive:

  • Practicum placement with Frog Hollow’s Reggio-inspired Childcare Program
  • Opportunity for paid employment upon program completion
  • Bus tickets
  • Child minding

Program benefits:

  • Responsible Adult (required to work in child care). Topics include: child development, dealing with challenging behavior and licensing regulations.
  • Improve English language skills. Topics include: Canadian workplace communication, child care vocabulary and adapting to Canadian workplace culture.
  • Prepare for work in Canada. Topics include job search, resume and cover letter writing and interview preparation.
