Another successful day at our 2nd Seniors Resource Fair! 🎉

With an enthusiastic turnout and positive feedback from participants, it’s safe to say our event was a resounding success.

On the day of the event, we had an impressive turnout of 103 seniors and their loved ones!

Huge thanks to everyone for their energy and tireless efforts in empowering seniors to manage their own well-being.

First and foremost, it was our honor to have Squamish Nation Elder Willard “Buddy” Joseph open the event through sharing his teachings and blessings for the community.

As the event host, Cherrie (Seniors Program Coordinator of Kiwassa Neighbourhood House) and Terence (Seniors Program Coordinator of Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House) took a bold step in normalizing the aging and dying process as a community experience, shedding light on Advance Planning and its financial-legal implications. Special shout-out to Anthony Leung and the amazing teams at Seniors First BC and People’s Law School for tackling these often overlooked and stigmatized topics.

Our Move with Chio workshop was another spotlight at the event, drawing a crowd in every session. This complimentary workshop became a hot favorite among seniors, with many eagerly signing up and having a blast learning new dance moves. The sessions were so popular that they reached full capacity, and there was even a delightful sight of seniors standing outside the room, enthusiastically observing the dance.

Last but not least, our heartfelt gratitude to all participating organizations and community partners:

  • ICBC
  • South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority (TransLink)
  • iCON, UBC
  • Self Managment BC
  • Telus
  • Alzheimer Society BC
